LIFT WORSHIP: FIVE

Earlier this year I posted about producing an album called "FIVE" with a group in Rochester, Minnesota called Lift Worship. We just wrapped up this EP and it was a blast to work on!

Lift Worship is based out of a local church in Rochester, Minnesota and the team is primarily made up of volunteers. It was an honor to work with these volunteers as we wrote parts together!

My role with this project was song form and arrangement, creating sounds, playing guitars live, and musically directing the band. The project was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jason Gerdt & Brent Thomas.

The album released Christmas Day 2016 and you can stream it below via embedded Spotify playlist!

"The Med City" // original anthem for the city of Rochester, Minnesota

had the chance to write a tune for the city i live in: Rochester, Minnesota. produced by The Med City BeatNorth Coast Productions & Knowble Media.

excuse the cheese as writing an anthem for a city is inherently hokey. it was fun though!

floating // commissioned work

I recently had the chance to go check out this new sensation called "floating". Seems simple, and the concept is. You crawl into a tank filled with 800 pounds of epsom salt, lay down, and float - preferably in the dark with no music. It's a meditative experience for you to recollect your thoughts and find relaxation and refreshment.

Nalu Float, Rochester, Minnesota's only floating center, was generous enough to have me come in and try floating out, and write a piece on my experience. I don't need to get too personal, but although I was a little claustrophobic at first, I had a nostalgic (odd right?), restful time inside the floating tank. It was an interesting experience to be pulled away from the chaos of everyday routine, and be alone with your thoughts while floating in that trippy, silky water.

Here's a video explaining a little more about floating (this video isn't from Nalu, but similar concept):

Based on my experience while floating, the piece I wrote is below.

You can check out Nalu Float's website here and try it out for yourself.

AUTHOR // tunes

Two of my best friends, Cameron and Trevor Bartlett, along with the talented Erik Moody, make up a band called Author. They make beautiful music paired with real lyricism - struggles, problems, emotions - things you can relate with.

They recently released a full length titled Of Brighter Days and are set to release their next full length this fall.

Check out their music and if you dig it, give a few bucks. Let's be real - you're saving hundreds with your Spotify subscription so the least you can do is spare some cash for the striving musician.

PS you can see my wife and I on all of the album art and web design (curated and created by the talented Benjamin Ewing at Aesthetic Design Company [my brother-in-law]).
